What Is Net Run Rate?
Net Run Rate (NRR) is the standard tiebreaker used in cricket league tables when two or more teams finish level on points. It measures how much faster a team scores runs on average compared to how fast it lets opponents score.
The Formula
NRR = (Total Runs Scored / Total Overs Faced) – (Total Runs Conceded / Total Overs Bowled). Overs entered in standard cricket notation (like 49.3, meaning 49 overs and 3 balls) are automatically converted to their true decimal value before the calculation, since 3 balls equal half an over, not three-tenths of one.
How To Read It
A positive NRR means a team scores faster than it concedes runs on average, which is favorable in the standings; a negative NRR means the opposite. This calculator follows the official ICC method used across international and domestic limited-overs tournaments.
