📈 MET Minutes Calculator
Enter an activity’s MET value, session duration, and weekly frequency to calculate your MET-minutes.
What this calculator does
MET-minutes are a standard way to quantify physical activity by combining how intense an activity is with how long you do it. They’re used by public health bodies such as the WHO and in tools like the IPAQ (International Physical Activity Questionnaire) to score overall activity levels.
How the calculation works
The formula is MET-minutes = MET value x duration in minutes. To get a weekly total, this is multiplied by how many sessions you do per week: MET-minutes per week = MET-minutes per session x sessions per week. A MET value represents how many times more energy an activity requires compared to sitting quietly (1 MET).
Common public health guidelines recommend accumulating at least 500-1000 MET-minutes per week of moderate-to-vigorous activity for general health benefits.
