What this calculator estimates
This calculator uses the mid-parental height method, one of the most common quick estimates used to predict a child’s likely adult height range based on the heights of both biological parents.
How the formula works
The calculator first averages both parents’ heights, then adjusts for the child’s sex: for boys, 13 cm is added to the sum of both parents’ heights before dividing by 2; for girls, 13 cm is subtracted from the sum before dividing by 2. The result is a single predicted height, with a typical margin of about ±8.5 cm covering roughly two-thirds of children.
