🏃 Age Grade Calculator
Find your age-graded performance percentage to see how your race time compares against open-class standards, adjusted fairly for your age and gender.
What is age grading?
Age grading lets runners of different ages and genders compare performances fairly. It expresses your finish time as a percentage of the approximate world-class standard for someone of your age and gender over the same distance, so a 60-year-old and a 25-year-old can be compared on a level footing.
How this calculator works
The calculator starts from an approximate open (world-class) standard time for your chosen distance and gender, then applies an age performance factor that reflects the typical, gradual decline in achievable performance with age. Your Age Grade % is calculated as the age-adjusted standard time divided by your actual time, multiplied by 100. A score around 100% represents a world-class performance for that age; 70-80% is a strong, well-trained amateur performance; 50-60% is a solid recreational effort.
This tool uses a smoothed approximation of published age-factor curves rather than the full official World Masters Athletics tables, so results are a close estimate rather than an official, certified age-grading score.
