Wilks Calculator
Calculate your Wilks score to compare your powerlifting total fairly against lifters of different bodyweights.
What is the Wilks score?
The Wilks score is a formula used in powerlifting to compare lifters’ totals fairly across different bodyweights. Because heavier lifters can typically lift more absolute weight, the Wilks coefficient adjusts a lifter’s total so that scores can be compared regardless of bodyweight class.
The formula
Your total lifted is multiplied by a bodyweight-specific coefficient: Wilks Score = Total × Coefficient, where the coefficient comes from the classic Wilks polynomial, Coefficient = 500 ÷ (a + b·x + c·x² + d·x³ + e·x⁴ + f·x⁵), with x equal to bodyweight in kilograms and a-f being fixed constants that differ for men and women, originally derived by Robert Wilks from historical elite powerlifting performance data.
This calculator uses the original (1994) Wilks coefficients, the version most commonly referenced by lifters and used historically by the IPF; some federations have since moved to updated formulas such as Wilks 2020 or DOTS, which can give slightly different scores.
