👣 Steps to Calories Calculator
Convert your step count into an estimated number of calories burned, based on your body weight and a typical walking pace.
How Steps Convert to Calories
Walking calorie burn is estimated from the standard MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) value for a moderate walking pace (about 3 mph, MET 3.5) combined with a typical cadence of roughly 100 steps per minute, which yields an approximate energy cost per step scaled to body weight.
The Formula
Calories Per Step ≈ 0.0006 × Body Weight (kg), so Calories Burned = Steps × 0.0006 × Body Weight (kg). Distance is approximated using the common rule of thumb of about 2,000 steps per mile.
Notes on Accuracy
Actual calorie burn depends on walking speed, incline, stride length, and terrain, so this is a general estimate for everyday activity tracking rather than a precise clinical measurement.
