❤️ Calories Burned by Heart Rate Calculator
Estimate calories burned during a workout using your average heart rate, age, weight, and gender, based on a widely-used heart-rate calorie formula.
Estimating Calories From Heart Rate
Heart rate correlates closely with exercise intensity, so it can be used along with age, weight, and gender to estimate calories burned during a workout. This calculator uses the regression formula published by Keytel et al. (2005), one of the most widely referenced heart-rate calorie estimation methods.
The Formula
For men: Calories/min = (-55.0969 + 0.6309 × HR + 0.1988 × Weight(kg) + 0.2017 × Age) / 4.184. For women: Calories/min = (-20.4022 + 0.4472 × HR – 0.1263 × Weight(kg) + 0.074 × Age) / 4.184. The per-minute value is then multiplied by exercise duration to get total calories.
Accuracy Notes
This formula was derived from lab-based studies of steady-state exercise, so results are estimates and will differ from person to person based on fitness level and how heart rate was measured. It is intended for general fitness planning purposes only.
