How the calculation works
The main formula is Bowling Average = Runs Conceded / Wickets Taken. This calculator also reports two related figures: Economy Rate (runs conceded per over, calculated as runs / (balls bowled / 6)), which measures how tightly a bowler controls scoring, and Bowling Strike Rate (balls bowled per wicket), which measures how quickly a bowler takes wickets.
A bowling average in the low-to-mid 20s is typically considered excellent at the international level, though acceptable averages vary significantly by format and role. This calculator is for general statistics reference and educational use.
