Why timing your refill matters

Running out of a regularly taken medication can disrupt treatment, and pharmacies sometimes need a few days to process a refill request, especially if a new prescription authorization is needed. Planning ahead helps you avoid a gap.

How this calculator works

Enter how many pills or doses you currently have left and how many you take per day; dividing the two gives the number of days your current supply will last. Subtracting a lead time for pharmacy processing then tells you how many days from today you should submit your refill request so you don’t run out while it’s being filled.

Always follow your prescriber’s and pharmacy’s specific instructions, insurance refill timing rules, and any early-refill restrictions that may apply to your medication. This calculator is a general planning tool for educational purposes only and is not medical or pharmacy advice.
