❤️ Max Heart Rate Calculator
Enter your age to get a quick estimate of your maximum heart rate for exercise planning.
What Is Maximum Heart Rate?
Maximum heart rate (HRmax) is the highest number of beats per minute your heart can achieve during maximal physical exertion. It’s commonly used as a baseline for setting exercise intensity zones.
How It’s Estimated
This calculator uses the classic formula, HRmax = 220 minus age, which is simple and widely recognized. It also shows the Tanaka formula, HRmax = 208 minus (0.7 × age), which research suggests may be more accurate for adults, particularly older adults.
A Few Notes
Both formulas are population averages and individual maximum heart rates can vary by 10 to 20 beats per minute in either direction. This tool is intended for general fitness planning and education, not as a substitute for a supervised fitness or cardiac stress test.
