What this ERG calculator does

Rowing ergometers (“ergs”) display split time — the time it would take to row 500 meters at your current pace. This calculator converts that split into watts using the standard rowing power formula, and estimates the distance and calories for a full workout at that pace.

The formula

Watts are calculated as 2.80 divided by (split time in seconds per 500m / 500) cubed, which is the widely used Concept2-style pace-to-watts conversion. Distance is estimated from your pace and workout duration, and calories are estimated from watts using a standard energy-conversion approximation.

These figures are estimates for general training use. Actual calorie burn varies by machine, individual efficiency, and body composition.
