What is the APFT?

The Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT) was the U.S. Army’s legacy three-event fitness test, consisting of push-ups, sit-ups, and a 2-mile run, each timed at 2 minutes for the muscular events. Each event was scored from 0 to 100 points, with a minimum of 60 points per event required to pass, for a maximum possible score of 300.

How this calculator works

Enter your push-up count, sit-up count, 2-mile run time, and sex. The calculator estimates each event’s score using the published 17-21 age group scoring scale (the most commonly referenced band for a general estimate), scaling your result between the minimum passing standard (60 points) and the maximum standard (100 points), then totals all three for an estimated overall score out of 300.

The APFT was replaced Army-wide by the Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) starting in 2020, which was itself succeeded by the Army Fitness Test (AFT) in 2025. This calculator is provided for historical reference, training, and educational purposes and does not represent an official score.
