What acceleration measures
Acceleration is the rate at which an object’s velocity changes over time. It is calculated as a = (vf – vi) / t, where vi is the initial velocity, vf is the final velocity, and t is the time interval.
How this calculator works
Enter the initial velocity, final velocity, and the time it took for that change to happen. The calculator subtracts the initial velocity from the final velocity and divides by time to get acceleration in meters per second squared, and also expresses the result as a multiple of standard gravity (g).
A negative result means the object is decelerating (slowing down) in the direction of motion. This tool is for general physics education and planning purposes.
