🫀 Cholesterol Ratio Calculator
Work out your total cholesterol to HDL ratio and LDL to HDL ratio from a standard lipid panel result.
Why cholesterol ratios matter
A single cholesterol number tells only part of the story. Comparing your total cholesterol or LDL (‘bad’ cholesterol) against your HDL (‘good’ cholesterol) gives a ratio that many clinicians use as an additional reference point alongside the individual values.
How it’s calculated
This calculator divides your total cholesterol by your HDL to get the Total/HDL ratio, and divides LDL by HDL for the LDL/HDL ratio. As a general reference, a Total/HDL ratio below 4 is often considered desirable, while ratios above 5 are generally considered higher risk — though exact target ranges vary by lab and guideline.
