Why weight changes between planets

Weight depends on both your mass and the local gravitational acceleration. Your mass stays the same everywhere, but each planet and moon has a different surface gravity, so your weight changes from world to world.

The formula used

This calculator multiplies your Earth weight by the ratio of that body’s surface gravity to Earth’s (g_planet / g_earth). For example, Mars has about 0.377 times Earth’s gravity, so a 70 kg person would weigh about 26.4 kg-equivalent there.

Surface gravity ratios are averages based on each body’s mass and radius using standard astronomical data; for gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn, the value refers to gravity at the visible cloud-top level, since there’s no solid surface. For general educational purposes.
