Quarantine Silver Lining Calculator
Enter how many days you’re staying home and a few everyday habits you’re skipping to see the time saved, money saved, and what you could do with it instead.
What this calculator does
The Quarantine Silver Lining Calculator adds up a few of the everyday upsides of spending extra time at home: money not spent on commuting or eating out, and the reading you could fit into the time you’d normally spend getting somewhere.
How the calculation works
Time saved is your daily commute time saved multiplied by the number of days at home, converted to hours. Money saved simply multiplies your estimated daily savings by the same number of days. Reading progress multiplies your daily reading pace (in pages) by the days at home, then divides by an average book length to estimate how many books you could finish.
This is a light, motivational estimate for general planning purposes, not a precise financial or productivity forecast — actual savings and reading pace will vary from day to day.
