What this calculator does
This tool estimates the typical cost of hiring a pet sitter by combining a base price for the type of visit (a short drop-in, a longer drop-in, a dog walk, or an overnight stay) with a per-additional-pet surcharge, then multiplying by the number of days of care needed.
How the estimate works
Each service type has a typical base rate reflecting common industry pricing: shorter drop-in visits and walks cost less than overnight stays, which involve much more time. If you have more than one pet, an additional-pet fee (commonly $5-15 per extra pet, higher for overnight care) is added per visit or night. The calculator multiplies the resulting per-visit or per-night price by your number of days to produce a total estimated cost.
Actual pet sitter rates vary significantly by geographic location, the sitter’s experience, add-on services like medication administration or extensive playtime, and holiday surcharges. Use this calculator as a general planning estimate rather than a firm quote from any specific pet sitting service.
