✍️ NaNoWriMo Calculator
Track your National Novel Writing Month progress and find out exactly how many words per day you need to hit your goal.
Staying on pace for your writing goal
National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) challenges writers to complete a 50,000-word draft in a set time frame, but any writing goal with a deadline works the same way: what matters is your daily pace relative to the time you actually have left.
How the pace is calculated
The calculator subtracts what you’ve already written from your total goal to find the words remaining, then divides that by the number of days you actually plan to write (accounting for any planned days off) to get your required daily word count. It also shows a flat daily average assuming you write every single day, for comparison.
This is a simple planning tool for general use. Sticking to any writing goal also depends on factors like editing time, revisions, and life’s unpredictability, so treat the numbers as a guide rather than a strict requirement.
