🧊 Cold Brew Ratio Calculator
Work out how much coarse-ground coffee and water to use for your batch of cold brew concentrate.
How cold brew ratios work
Cold brew is typically made as a concentrate — coarsely ground coffee steeped in room-temperature or cold water for 12 to 24 hours — and then diluted with water, milk, or ice before drinking. Because it’s meant to be diluted, cold brew concentrate uses a much stronger coffee-to-water ratio than regular hot brewing, commonly somewhere between 1:4 and 1:8.
How this calculator works
Enter how much finished concentrate you want to make and pick a strength ratio, and the calculator tells you how many grams (and roughly how many cups) of coarsely ground coffee to steep in that amount of water. It also shows the total volume you’d get after diluting the concentrate 1:1 with water for a ready-to-drink cold brew.
Note: Steeping time, grind coarseness, and coffee freshness all affect final strength and flavor, so use this ratio as a starting point and adjust dilution to taste.
