BMI Calculator
Calculate your Body Mass Index (BMI) from your height and weight to see which standard weight category you fall into.
What BMI measures
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a simple screening measurement that relates your weight to your height. It is calculated by dividing weight in kilograms by height in meters squared (kg/m²). It is widely used because it only requires two easy measurements, but it does not directly measure body fat percentage.
How this calculator works
Enter your height and weight in either metric or imperial units. The calculator converts everything to metric internally, computes your BMI, and matches it against the standard World Health Organization weight categories: underweight (below 18.5), normal weight (18.5-24.9), overweight (25-29.9), and obese (30 and above). It also shows the weight range considered ‘normal’ for your height.
BMI does not account for muscle mass, bone density, age, sex, or fat distribution, so it can be inaccurate for athletes, older adults, and some other groups. This tool is for general educational and planning purposes only and is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
