What is bank reconciliation?

Bank reconciliation is the process of matching your own accounting records (the ‘book balance’) against your bank statement to confirm they agree, accounting for timing differences like deposits in transit or checks that haven’t cleared yet.

How this calculator works

Enter your bank statement balance and adjust it for deposits in transit (added) and outstanding checks (subtracted) to get the adjusted bank balance. Enter your book balance and adjust it for interest earned (added) and bank fees (subtracted) to get the adjusted book balance. If both adjusted figures match, your books are reconciled; the calculator shows the difference so you can spot any discrepancy.

This tool is for general bookkeeping education and planning, not a substitute for formal accounting review.
