What is the Arrhenius equation?

The Arrhenius equation describes how the rate constant of a chemical reaction depends on temperature and activation energy: k = A · e^(-Ea/RT). Here, A is the pre-exponential (frequency) factor, Ea is the activation energy, R is the universal gas constant (8.314 J/(mol·K)), and T is the absolute temperature in kelvin.

Enter the pre-exponential factor, activation energy in kJ/mol, and temperature in kelvin. The calculator converts Ea to joules per mole, computes the exponent -Ea/(R·T), and multiplies by A to get the rate constant k.

Note: Higher activation energies and lower temperatures both make the exponent more negative, sharply reducing k. This tool is intended for general chemistry education and planning purposes.
