What is the DART rate?
The DART rate (Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred) is a standard OSHA workplace safety metric measuring the rate of incidents severe enough to cause an employee to miss work, work restricted duty, or transfer to another job.
The formula
DART Rate = (Number of DART Cases × 200,000) / Total Hours Worked by All Employees. The 200,000 figure represents the equivalent of 100 full-time employees working 40 hours a week, 50 weeks a year, standardizing the rate for comparison across companies of different sizes.
