What this calculator estimates

Functional Threshold Power (FTP) is the highest average power a cyclist can sustain for about an hour, and it’s the most common benchmark for cycling fitness. This calculator projects a realistic range of FTP improvement over a training block based on your total training volume (weekly hours × number of weeks) and your training background.

How the estimate works

Newer or less-trained riders typically see faster relative gains, while highly trained riders improve more slowly because they’re closer to their physiological ceiling. The calculator applies a training-load-based gain percentage, capped at realistic limits for each experience level (up to 20% for beginners, up to 8% for advanced riders per block), and also shows your power-to-weight ratio, a key indicator of climbing and overall cycling performance.

This is a general planning estimate based on typical training-response patterns, not a guarantee. Actual gains depend on training quality, recovery, nutrition, and consistency, and this tool does not replace individualized coaching.
