What this calculator shows

Smoking is both a habit and a recurring expense. This calculator adds up the numbers, cigarettes smoked and money spent, so the cumulative scale of the habit is easy to see in plain terms.

How this calculator works

Enter how many cigarettes are smoked per day, the price of a standard pack of 20, and the number of years the habit has continued. The calculator divides the pack price by 20 to find the cost per cigarette, multiplies that by daily use to find the daily cost, and scales it up across a year (using 365.25 days to account for leap years) and across the full number of years entered. It also projects what another 10 years at the same rate would cost.

This is a factual cost and consumption calculator for general awareness and planning, not a health risk assessment. Anyone looking to quit can find free support resources through their national health service or a local doctor.
