The formula
Volume is calculated as length times width times thickness (all in inches), divided by 1,728 to convert cubic inches to cubic feet. That volume is then multiplied by the typical density of the chosen stone type, in pounds per cubic foot: granite about 165, marble about 170, limestone about 150, sandstone about 145, basalt about 180, and slate about 175.
This is a general estimate for planning and handling purposes, such as deciding how many people or what equipment is needed to move a slab safely. Natural stone density varies by quarry and specific composition, so treat this as an approximation.
