The formula
The volume is calculated as Length × Width × Depth, after converting your fill depth from inches to feet. The result is shown in cubic feet and cubic yards, along with an estimated weight using a typical play sand density of about 100 lb per cubic foot, and how many standard 50 lb bags that would take.
Actual sand density varies by product and moisture content, so treat the weight and bag count as a helpful estimate rather than an exact figure — checking your specific sand product’s coverage guidance is recommended before buying.
