🃏 Poker EV Calculator
Work out the expected value (EV) of calling a bet in poker based on the pot size, the cost to call, and your estimated winning chances.
What is EV in poker?
Expected Value (EV) measures the average amount you’d win or lose from a decision if you could repeat it many times. A positive EV call is, on average, profitable over the long run, while a negative EV call loses money over time even if it sometimes wins in the short term.
The formula
This calculator uses the standard simplified EV formula for a calling decision: EV = (Equity × Pot) – ((1 – Equity) × Call Amount), where Equity is your estimated probability of winning the hand. It also shows your break-even equity, which is the minimum win probability needed to make the call profitable, calculated as Call / (Pot + Call) — this is the same concept as pot odds expressed as a percentage.
Your actual equity is an estimate based on your hand reading skill and is never known with certainty during play. This tool is for general strategy education and entertainment purposes only.
