How This Calculator Works

Elliptical trainer workouts are estimated using MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) values, the standard method exercise scientists use to classify the energy cost of physical activities. Light elliptical use has a MET of about 5, moderate use about 7, and vigorous, resistance-heavy sessions about 9.

The Formula

Calories Burned = MET × 3.5 × Body Weight (kg) / 200 × Duration (minutes). This is the standard compendium-of-activities formula for converting MET values and body weight into estimated calories burned over time.

Notes on Accuracy

Actual calorie burn depends on resistance level, incline, stride rate, and individual fitness, so treat this figure as a general estimate for workout planning rather than a precise measurement.
