How much exercise is recommended each week?
Widely followed physical activity guidelines recommend that adults get at least 150 to 300 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week, or 75 to 150 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity, or an equivalent combination of both, along with muscle-strengthening activity on two or more days.
How this calculator works
Enter how many sessions you exercise per week and your average session length to get your total weekly minutes. Because vigorous-intensity activity produces roughly the same benefit in about half the time as moderate-intensity activity, the calculator also converts your total into "moderate-intensity equivalent" minutes by doubling vigorous minutes, then compares that figure to the standard 150-minute weekly minimum.
Reaching at least 150 moderate-equivalent minutes per week meets the baseline recommendation, while 300 minutes or more is associated with additional health benefits in research studies.
