Planning your Halloween route

This calculator gives a rough, fun estimate of how many houses you can realistically visit during trick-or-treating, based on how much time you have and how long each stop takes (walking up, knocking, and moving to the next house).

How the estimate works

Total time is divided by the average time per house to get the number of houses you can reach. That figure is then used with your neighborhood’s houses-per-block density to estimate blocks covered, and multiplied by average candy per house to estimate your total haul, both per child and for your whole group.

Real results vary with neighborhood layout, walking speed, and how generous each house is. This is meant for fun and general planning, not an exact prediction.
