What is a triangular prism?
A triangular prism is a 3D solid with two identical triangular ends (bases) connected by three rectangular side faces, and a constant cross-section along its length.
How this calculator works
Volume is found by multiplying the area of the triangular base by the prism’s length: Volume = (1/2 x base x height) x length. Total surface area adds the two triangular end faces to the three rectangular lateral faces: Surface Area = (perimeter of triangle x length) + (2 x triangle area).
- Enter the triangle’s base and height (used for the triangular area).
- Enter the two other triangle sides to calculate the perimeter used for the rectangular side faces.
This tool is for general math and geometry learning purposes; for very precise engineering work, verify with exact measurements.
