Torr to atm Conversion Calculator
Convert pressure readings between torr and standard atmospheres, with pascal and psi equivalents included.
What is a torr?
The torr is a unit of pressure defined so that exactly 760 torr equal one standard atmosphere (atm). It’s named after Evangelista Torricelli, inventor of the mercury barometer, and is closely related to millimeters of mercury (mmHg).
How this calculator works
Enter a pressure value and choose the conversion direction. To convert torr to atmospheres, the calculator divides by 760; to go from atmospheres to torr, it multiplies by 760. The result is also shown in pascals (the SI pressure unit) and pounds per square inch (psi) using standard atmosphere definitions (1 atm = 101,325 Pa = 14.696 psi).
- 1 atmosphere = 760 torr (exact, by definition)
- 1 atmosphere = 101,325 pascals
- 1 atmosphere ≈ 14.696 psi
This calculator is intended for chemistry, physics, and general lab reference use.
