What is stoichiometry?

Stoichiometry is the calculation of quantities of reactants and products in a chemical reaction, based on the balanced chemical equation. It relies on the mole ratios given by the equation’s coefficients to relate the amount of one substance to another.

How this calculator works

First, the mass of the known substance A is converted to moles using moles = mass / molar mass. The mole ratio from the balanced equation (coefficient of B รท coefficient of A) is then applied to find moles of the target substance B, which is finally converted back to mass using mass = moles ร— molar mass.
