βοΈ Mass Percent Concentration Calculator
Find the mass percent (w/w%) concentration of a solution by entering the mass of solute dissolved and the mass of solvent used.
What mass percent concentration is
Mass percent concentration (also written w/w% or mass/mass percent) expresses how much of a solution’s total mass comes from the dissolved solute. It is a common way to label solutions in chemistry, food science, and industrial formulations because it does not depend on volume, which can change with temperature.
The formula
Mass percent is calculated as mass% = (mass of solute ÷ total mass of solution) × 100, where total mass of solution equals the mass of solute plus the mass of solvent. For example, dissolving 10 g of salt in 90 g of water gives a total solution mass of 100 g and a mass percent of 10%.
Note: Make sure solute and solvent masses are measured in the same units before entering them. This calculator is intended for general chemistry education and lab planning purposes.
