Rockwell Hardness Conversion Calculator
Convert Rockwell C hardness readings to approximate Brinell and Vickers values for steel.
Approximate Hardness Scale Conversion
Rockwell, Brinell, and Vickers hardness tests use different indenters and loads, so there’s no exact universal formula linking them — the relationships are empirical and depend on the material being tested. This calculator uses standard reference-table values for steel (based on widely published ASTM E140-style conversion data) and linearly interpolates between them.
For steel in the HRC 20–65 range, this gives a reasonable approximate cross-reference between Rockwell C, Brinell, and Vickers scales. These conversions are approximate and material-specific; for critical applications, always use hardness values measured directly on the relevant scale rather than converted figures.
