What is the Quick Ratio?

The Quick Ratio (also called the acid-test ratio) measures a company’s ability to pay off its current liabilities using its most liquid assets, deliberately excluding inventory since it can be slow to convert to cash.

The formula

Quick Ratio = (Current Assets − Inventory) / Current Liabilities. A quick ratio of 1.0 or higher generally suggests a company can cover its short-term obligations without needing to sell inventory.
