How this calculator works
This tool converts a percentage score into an equivalent grade point average (GPA) on the standard 4.0 scale used by most US high schools and colleges. It applies the widely used plus/minus grading table, where each percentage range maps to a letter grade and a corresponding GPA value (for example, 93-96% is an A worth 3.7, and 83-86% is a B worth 2.7).
The calculator also shows a simple linear estimate (percentage divided by 100, multiplied by 4) for comparison, since some schools use a straight proportional scale instead of a letter-grade table.
- Grading scales vary by institution – always check your school’s official grading policy or syllabus for the exact cutoffs it uses.
- This tool is for general planning and educational purposes only and does not replace an official transcript or registrar calculation.
