Paper Quantity Converter

Convert between sheets, quires, reams, and cartons of paper using standard printing and office-supply quantities.

What this calculator does

The Paper Quantity Converter switches between the traditional units used to count paper — individual sheets, quires, reams, and cartons — so you can quickly figure out how much paper you’re ordering, storing, or using.

Standard paper units

These quantities are long-standing conventions in the printing and office-supply trade:

  • 1 quire = 25 sheets
  • 1 ream = 500 sheets (20 quires)
  • 1 carton = 10 reams = 5,000 sheets

Enter an amount and choose the unit you’re starting from; the calculator converts it to a total sheet count and then expresses that total in each of the other units. Note that some specialty or historical uses of “quire” and “ream” (such as 24-sheet quires or 480-sheet reams for certain paper types) differ from the modern standard used here, so check your supplier’s packaging if precision matters.
