What is the Mode?

The mode is the value that appears most often in a data set. Unlike the mean or median, a data set can have one mode, several modes (multimodal), or no repeated value at all.

The Method

This calculator counts how many times each value appears in your data. The value (or values) with the highest count is the mode. If more than one value shares the highest count, the smallest of them is shown as the primary result, and the total number of modes found is reported separately.

  • Enter at least one value; leave unused boxes blank.
  • If no value repeats, the first entered value is shown and labeled accordingly.
