➗ Long Division Calculator

Enter a dividend and a divisor to get the quotient, remainder, and decimal result of a long division problem.

What is long division?

Long division is the step-by-step method for dividing one number (the dividend) by another (the divisor) to find how many whole times the divisor fits into the dividend, plus what’s left over.

How this calculator works

This tool computes the whole-number quotient (truncated toward zero), the remainder using Remainder = Dividend − (Quotient × Divisor), and the full decimal quotient from simply dividing the dividend by the divisor. Together these mirror what you’d get by working through long division on paper.

If the divisor is entered as zero, division is undefined, so this calculator safely shows zero instead of an error. This tool is for general educational and reference purposes.
