The trapezoid area formula

A trapezoid has one pair of parallel sides, called bases. Its area is found by averaging the two base lengths and multiplying by the perpendicular height between them: Area = ½ × (base1 + base2) × height.

How to use this calculator

Enter the lengths of the two parallel bases and the height (the straight-line distance between them, not the length of the slanted sides). The calculator returns the area and the average base width.

Make sure all three measurements use the same unit of length. This tool is for general math and educational use.
