👷 Labor Force Participation Rate Calculator
Calculate the labor force participation rate to see what share of the working-age population is either employed or actively looking for work.
What Is the Labor Force Participation Rate?
The labor force participation rate measures the share of the working-age population that is either employed or actively seeking work (unemployed but looking). It is a key indicator used alongside the unemployment rate to understand the health and structure of a labor market.
The Formula
Labor Force Participation Rate (%) = (Labor Force ÷ Working-Age Population) × 100.
The labor force includes everyone who is employed or actively looking for a job; it excludes people who are not working and not looking for work, such as retirees, full-time students, and discouraged workers. This calculator is intended for general educational and planning purposes only.
