What is Gold Melt Value?

Melt value is the raw value of the pure gold content in an item, based purely on its weight and purity, without any premium for craftsmanship, brand, or collectibility.

The Formula

Pure Gold Content = Weight × (Karat ÷ 24). Melt Value = Pure Gold Content × Spot Price per Gram. For example, 10 grams of 14K gold contains about 5.83 grams of pure gold.

Note: Actual resale or buyback value is typically lower than melt value due to dealer margins and refining costs; this is an estimate for general educational purposes only.
