How fraction simplification works
A fraction is fully simplified (reduced) when its numerator and denominator share no common factor other than 1. To simplify a fraction, this calculator finds the greatest common divisor (GCD) of the numerator and denominator using the Euclidean algorithm, then divides both by that value.
