What This Calculator Does
For homogeneous, isotropic materials, the elastic constants — Young’s modulus, shear modulus, bulk modulus, and Poisson’s ratio — are all mathematically related. Knowing any two lets you find the others, which is useful in mechanical and structural engineering.
The Formulas
Shear modulus: G = E / (2(1+ν)). Bulk modulus: K = E / (3(1−2ν)), where E is Young’s modulus and ν is Poisson’s ratio.
For general educational and planning purposes; always verify against material datasheets for engineering design work.
