🔢 Decimal to Fraction Calculator

Convert any decimal number into its simplest equivalent fraction.

Converting a decimal to a fraction

Every terminating or repeating decimal can be written as a fraction. This calculator uses the continued fraction method: it repeatedly separates the whole-number part from the remainder and inverts what’s left, building up a numerator and denominator that converge on the original decimal value, then reduces that fraction to its simplest form using the greatest common divisor.

How to use this calculator

Enter any decimal number, positive or negative. The calculator returns the closest simple fraction that reproduces the same value, along with that fraction converted back to a decimal so you can check the match.

For decimals with long, non-repeating digit sequences, the result is the best simple approximation found within a reasonable denominator size. This tool is for general math and educational use.
