What this calculator does
The Day Counter finds the total number of calendar days between two dates, and further splits that total into weekdays (Monday through Friday) and weekend days (Saturday and Sunday).
How the calculation works
The total day count comes from the plain difference between the two dates. To split that into weekdays and weekends, the span is broken into complete 7-day weeks (each contributing exactly 5 weekdays and 2 weekend days) plus a short remainder of leftover days, which are checked individually against the starting day of the week.
This tool is for general scheduling and planning purposes, such as estimating business days for a project timeline or counting down to an event.
