How a Cord of Wood Is Measured
A standard “full cord” of firewood is a stack measuring 4 feet high by 4 feet wide by 8 feet long, which works out to 128 cubic feet of stacked wood (including the gaps between logs).
To calculate cords, this tool multiplies your stack’s height, width, and length in feet to get total cubic feet, then divides by 128. If you know the price per cord, it also estimates your total cost.
This measures stacked volume, not solid wood volume — actual solid wood content is typically 60-70% of the stacked volume due to air gaps between logs. Use this for general firewood purchase planning.
