What this calculator does
A cube is a three-dimensional shape with six equal square faces. Given only the length of one edge, this calculator finds the cube’s volume, total surface area, face diagonal, and space (interior) diagonal.
The formulas
- Volume = a³
- Surface Area = 6a²
- Face Diagonal = a√2
- Space Diagonal = a√3
where a is the edge length. Volume tells you how much space the cube occupies, surface area tells you how much material would cover all six faces, and the diagonals measure straight-line distances across a face or through the cube’s interior. This tool is for general math and educational purposes.
